Good morning from New York City. It’s Wednesday today and Wednesdays are for questions. If you’re stumbling upon this for the first time, let me explain. On Wednesdays, I either answer your questions, or I offer questions to you that are beautiful questions, questions that can’t be answered with a strategic mind. They’re called lived questions or questions you ponder. Or, I share some of the questions I’m asking myself.
What popped into my mind this morning as I sat down to record this is a question my friend Petra asked me. Petra always asks the best questions, and sometimes she asks the obvious question. She said to me something like ‘why are you so excited about this journey? ‘Again, if you’re stumbling upon this for the first time, I’m about to leave New York City for five months. While she was asking a quite obvious question, it was cause for pause. I really had to think about it for a minute.
I think what I said was I believe that going outside of my comfort zone is going to bring out the best of me in terms of my resourcefulness, my curiosity, and also my sense of playfulness and joy. So yeah, I guess I think this journey is going to bring that out in me. It will also be revealing in terms of how I cope, and how I manage myself when I’m feeling uninspired, a little down, or perhaps lonely. So, that’s why I’m excited.
The question for today is, who are you when you’re at your best? It’s kind of an obvious question. Who are you when you show up as your best self? Petra asked me the obvious question too, though. She said, what are you most excited about? And I had to think about it. So, who are you when you show up at your best?
I asked this because whoever that is we want to see more of it. I think it also begs the question, where were you and how did that happen? And do your current circumstances allow you to show up as your best self? I think that’s a good thing to noodle a bit. Who are you when you show up at your best?
I’ll leave you with that today. Until next time, from my heart to yours.
